Challenge

Starting a meditation practice is easy; sticking with it is hard. Most apps offer large libraries of generic content, leaving users to work out what suits them, and many drop off within weeks. Meyoca needed to make meditation feel personal, approachable, and sustainable, using intelligent features to meet each person where they are and help them build a consistent daily routine without adding pressure.

Opportunity

Meditation has become a mainstream habit, but most apps still treat every user the same. There is a clear opportunity to close the gap between good intentions and consistent practice. By using intelligent features to understand each person’s mood, schedule, and goals, Meyoca can recommend the right session at the right moment and gently support habit-building over time. The result is a calmer, more personal experience that helps people return day after day because it fits their life, not because they feel they should.

Process

Research & Insight: Competitor and shopper-journey research shaped design principles for a calm, confident luxury experience.

Information Architecture: Clear categories, simple filtering and a short path from discovery to checkout.

Wireframing & Prototyping: Responsive wireframes and interactive prototypes covering the full journey on web and mobile.

Usability Testing: Testing key shopping flows to remove friction and build trust.

Visual Design & Design System: Elegant typography, generous space and a responsive component library for consistency.

Research

My research was guided by a few core questions:

Understand why people drop off. What makes focus and productivity apps feel rewarding at first, then easy to abandon?

Identify what keeps people motivated. Which kinds of feedback and rewards build a lasting habit, and which create pressure or guilt?

Explore the role of time of day. How do energy, focus, and mood change from morning to night, and how could the experience adapt to that?

Find the gaps in existing tools. Where do current timer and habit apps fall short, and where is there room for a calmer, more personal approach?

Define the emotional tone. How can an app feel supportive and companion-like rather than demanding?

These goals shaped the direction of Everlight, from the day and night light collection to Nori and the low-pressure tone of the interface.

Visual Design

Meyoca’s visual language is designed to calm the mind before a session even begins. Deep, near-black surfaces create a quiet, low-distraction canvas, while soft mint accents draw attention to the few actions that matter, like joining a session or pressing play.

Full-bleed forest photography brings the feeling of being outdoors into the app and gives each meditation its own atmosphere. Rounded cards, buttons and controls keep the interface gentle and approachable, and a clean sans-serif typeface keeps titles, durations and guidance easy to read at a glance.

The result is a restrained, consistent system that supports focus and makes every session feel peaceful from the first tap.

Key Takeaways

Meyoca shows that mindfulness works best when it adapts to the person, not the other way around. By combining intelligent personalisation with intuitive, user-centred design, the platform turns meditation from an occasional good intention into a habit that fits naturally into daily life. The experience feels calm, supportive, and low-pressure, helping people return consistently and build a wellness routine that is genuinely their own.
